and we're finished!

Christmas went ever-so-smoothly. Last night was laid back and much delicous food was consumed. The knitted items were well recieved. This morning we had a lovely time with the folks. Matt loved everything I got him. We stopped by and saw Granny and Grandpa (Matt's grandparents) and the 10haus clan. I talked to Annie twice and now I'm home with hot chocolate and LOTR. Sigh, tomorrow-- back to the grind.

20 20 20 4 hours to go

I'm still knitting. I have about 24 hours til Christmas and the gifties aren't finished. They are not wrapped. Some of the cookies still need to be baked. The shopping, however, has been completed. Now I need to figure out some sort of errand for Matt to do while I wrap his gifts,

Christmas is coming

I've been so busy this week with the Christmas preparations I haven't had any time to blog. I'm almost done with the baking and knitting, but i still havent wrapped anything. As usual, I procrastinated. Fortunatley I am off work on Saturday so I can do all the last minute things I need to get done.
Monday was the Duff's party. I had a great time. I caught up with Matt James and he invited me to a New Years Day party with all his bike boy friends. We are going to eat brunch and watch all six Star Wars Movies.
I've been hanging out with Gabe this week. I taught him to knit. He made a scarf for his girlfriend and is working on a hat now. I am so proud.
Rollerderby is going well, but I have little time to even think about it right now.
Back to the yarn, these Christmas pressents won't knit and bake themselves.

I may have just solved my problems

I finally feel like I have a handle on this darned Roller Derby thing. I have to stop beating myself up and start to let go. It would be impossible to control the whole league. I don't even WANT to control the whole league. I am learning to embrace the idea of delegating responsibilities. I am prepared to step back and let this thing roll on its own. Pun intended.

one finished sock

one finished sock

Kate's first sock is done. I cast on for the second one immediately, as everyone recomends. Please excuse the unvaccuumed carpet below this sock.
Rollerderby is moving right along. We had a meeting Sunday night of the fundraising committee, and plans were made. I can't say much more, things are still in the works.
Yesterday was fairly unproductive, I went to the grocery store with Jill and the boys. We came back to my house afterwards and just hung out for a while. I made some potato leek soup while Miles had a nap and Jasper sat on the floor banging on my pots with a wooden spoon. Jill learned how to find pictures using google and downloaded a bunch for her Christmas cookbook.
Gabe came over in the evening and I taught him how to knit. He picked it up very fast, and with very little complaining.
Today I took Matt in to work in the morning and picked up Gabe. Tashia came over for a quick computer tutorial and then Gabe went with me to the yarn store. He informed me, as I was buying needles and sock yarn, that he wanted to use his new-found skills to make a scarf for his girlfriend for Christmas. He bought yarn. Good yarn. I was so proud. He is currently sitting at my kitchen table, with wool and needles, contemplating gauge. I have converted the biscuit! I am victorious!
Skating practice tonight, oh boy.

Biondo Family christmas

We went to pizza tonight with the extended Biondos. It was nice to see everyone. It was awesome to see Julianna. I am so lucky to have a cousin like her. She is the most like me in my entire family. I kinda ignored everyone else and just talked to her all night.

Snow Dogs!

Snow Dogs!

No, Nunu is not eating Hazel, they are just playing. Immediatly after I took this picture, Nu body-slammed Hazel to the ground and they wrestled for a good five minutes, thoroughly soaking eachother and had to be toweled off before they could come in the house.

I need to be a better blogger

between work, christmas knitting and rollerderby practice I've been too busy to write anything. I haven't done laundry in ages either.
Last night at skating practice they played a Gwen Stefani song and Launa and I totally had a "We miss Kate" moment. I miss Kate. Noodles is doing great though. She seems okay. It snowed this morning. The dogs had a blast jumping around in the yard when the snow was falling. Knitting pictures later, I'm doing the toe on Kate's sock.

Please notice that I turned my first heel!

Okay, so the sock isn't finished yet, and it is far from perfect, as you can see, but I actually managed to turn the heel in a fairly accurate manner, meaning it fits an actual human foot. This particular foot belongs to Kate, who can now add "internet foot model" to her resume. These socks are intended for her, so it works out nicely. She gets an idea of what they will look like, and I get validation of my skills.
